Hulled barley is barley that has had its outermost hull removed, but the bran layer is still intact. This makes it more nutritious than pearled barley, which has had both the hull and the bran removed. Hulled barley retains a lot of fiber, vitamins, and minerals like manganese, selenium, and B vitamins. It has a chewy texture and a nutty flavor, which makes it a great addition to soups, stews, salads, or as a side dish.
It’s also often used in baking or even as a base for grain bowls.
